This book does not do it in the same way like the traditional ones do--starting from the contents page and intro (available on this site) -so I had to go on further to see what it has in stock:
<br /> Disappointment was my fear. In the end, I learnt neither to fear nor to be disappointed. So that was a quick lesson. But importantly, I learnt that there are new and practical ways to manage stress--more specifically, major life crises--as he puts it. But it is so clear--succinct! That amazed me. This work is nonpareil; direct, delightful, and hands on. Study it, enjoy it, and share it!

I bought this book because of what the title promises to deliver; how to defeat stress. Does it achieve that? Let's see: it does tackle what it calls the major life crises and I suppose if one can handle them, he or she can also handle the minor ones. For that, I like the courage. But does it handle them adequately? Most books shy away from giving time lines. They will tell you to breath in (as if you need to be told). This one attempts to guide the reader on a daily basis; solid things to do--it has time-tables, exercises, and long-term plans with realistic time lines. Is it practical? In other words, does it avoid the usually inappropriate one size fits all solutions? I think it tries; it uses the author's experiences and those of a few others to avoid straying away from reality, I suppose--and it does this well! Despite trying to be practical, I think the author has tried to be as scientific as possible and being a dietitian myself, I find the part on diet wonderful. It is difficult to stop thinking that this book was written with the recession in mind, but the fact that it was written earlier than the beginning of the recession, makes one admire the applicability of this book to the current global situation. I highly recommend this book!
