it really varies from hospital to hospital. my insurance won't pay for the hospital i am going to give birth at and i refuse to give birth somewhere that treats their expectant mothers like cattle in a delivery factory. because of this the hospital i will be going to has a flat rate of $3,000 and they will let me bring my own items (tissue, water pitcher, cups, pillows etc) so i won't be charged for extra items. i have a friend who's insurance requires 20% payment and they had to pay about 1,800 before they could be admitted to the hospital. i don't think it is in any way inappropriate for you to ask your doctor or the hospital how much a delivery generally costs.

2,000 dollars plus medicines it was under 2,500- thankfully that was all. 2,000 is my deductable and I totally went way beyond that before insurance. I was supposed to be 500 dollars for everything, but then I had a blood clot in the 26 week. So I was in the hospital for 6 days with that. Then the blood thinners, and then the c-section that I needed up needing.

My sister had all of her kids for well under 500 hundred each because she didn't have any complications or even an epidural with any of them.

well an option to consider is going to your local assistance office and applying for medical assistance and in the end it wont cost you any money for your appointments/delivery. They will end up taking it back off of you once you have the baby but I dont think they turn down anyone who is pregnant unless super rich. . . . thats what I did because my hubbies insurance covers only 80% of docters visits.... so that worked for me.

If you call the hosptial and the doctors office they will have an average rate for a smooth pregnancy and delivery.
I know our doctor and hospital charge one combined fee. Most of the visits are considered nurses visits.
Then they charge for blood tests, ultrasounds and stuff like that.

Congratts on paying your bills, starting fresh, the only unexpected bill we ran into was our insurance didn't cover his circumcision, it was just under $300.

With 90% coverage my guess is you will be paying you 'max out of pocket' for the FAMILY as listed on your insurance. Usually no more than $5000.
